Yerba Mate is becoming increasingly popular in the United States because of its abundance of antioxidants as well as the jolt of energy it delivers despite being low in tannins. Derived from the holly tree grown in the rainforests, it has been consumed in South America for generations and may be served hot or cold as well as plain or with honey, mint or a variety of other additions.
